Modernising Scientific Careers (MSC)

Modernising Scientific Careers (MSC) is part of a Department of Health programme to redesign and refine training across all healthcare disciplines. The intention is to produce a workforce that is both flexible and sustainable in order to support the NHS in the 21st century, supporting the delivery of best quality care for patients.

MSC will provide a structured and coherent career framework for healthcare scientists, supporting development of roles at all levels including assistant and associate practitioners, healthcare science practitioners, healthcare scientists and senior scientists up to consultant level appointments.

Healthcare providers will benefit from a supply of appropriately trained staff able to deliver care in a range of locations and settings to support the delivery of the NHS agenda.

Further information on the MSC programme can be found on the Department of Health website.
