NHS West Midlands recognises that developing effective leaders throughout the healthcare community is crucial in delivering high quality services where and when patients need them.
The West Midlands Strategic Health Authority has developed a Talent and Leadership Strategy, which has several key aims.
The first is to develop talent and leadership to the extent that we are spoilt for choice in having at least 2 appropriate applicants per vacancy at Chief Executive and Director level in the West Midlands.
The strategy also looks to ensure that the profile of Boards and senior leaders reflect the workforce and communities they serve, while clinicians receive encouragement to become leaders working alongside general manager colleagues. The strategy also outlines the vision of ensuring our leaders are ambassadors of change working with a fully engaged workforce. Finally the strategy will aim to highlight Quality and Patient Safety as an absolute priority to provide better patient outcomes and increase public confidence.

As part of our talent and leadership programme we provide coaching, mentoring and talent management. Our strategies and guidelines around these can be accessed from the useful documents page or from here.
